Gig Review
Live at "The Bit On The Side" Palace Avenue Theatre Paignton
(August 3rd 2007)
When STRANGE RED EARTH touched down and lifted us up at The Bit on The Side by The Palace Theatre, Paignton, Devon, Earth, it was an amazing experience!
You always look forward to a SRE gig as it is a sound and visual treat second to none!
The packed audience were treated to the best compilation of songs from the latest to back catalogue (so many to choose from) ever heard at any of their gigs we've seen so far! and we've done em all!!
Defiantly a live album due?!
With a combination of Lord Zarquon's spacey keyboards, Blackstone's thundering Bass and Sleyer's stomping percussion make this the most awesome live original band around.
From the quirky clever intro leading into "Morn Gate" to the final note of the three song encore this is a band not to miss!

Album Review
Otherworld
Are there any Electro Hippies in Torquay? There sure are.STRANGE RED EARTH have proved it with " Otherworld" an album rich in Pink Floyd aural imagery, unwittingly hilarious lyrics and bizarly infectious anthemic synth rock. It gets better the trio call themselves; Blackstone, Zarquon and Sleyer. I shit you not. But the strangest thing is amidst all the zithers twinkles, Moogs, Mellotron's and moody madness there is something quite likeable about SRE's fantasia. I expect to be sectioned in the next few minutes .
Preacher Dog
Torquay’s STRANGE RED EARTH wrote an amusing letter to accompany their latest offering, ‘Preacher Dog ’. A kind of mutual respect bordering on suspicion has begun to emerge. I like that. Anyway, ‘Preacher Dog’ is more of the same preposterously overblown goth-rock with the ever-mentionable keyboardist, Lord Zarquon, and moody vocalist, ‘Roj’, providing the band’s almost-Interpol, more-Sisters Of Mercy leanings. Once again, the music has a magnetic pull that I find hard to resist even when they sing of the Caesars having “blood on their hands” (‘The Caesars’) as if we should do something about it. Gotta love ‘em. Christ knows why but I do gotta.
